Default Returning player with a few Qs about Xpacs&Class combos

It's been about a year since I've played, and even then I didn't know much about the game, so I've got a couple questions.

I was thinking about purchasing the Trilogy from Direct2Drive, which has Prophecies, Nightfall, and Factions, and I was curious if I can add these to my existing account? I already have Prophecies, so I was wondering if the download would just combine them all with my original account.

I was also wondering what is the best combination of classes for playing the majority of the game as a duo? I mean, playing with another person, not just the class combos for one character.

Last question: I have a gold pet on a pre-Searing character, a Water Djiin, or something like that. Would it be more beneficial to sell it in pre-Searing Ascalon, or post-Searing?

Thanks in advance!

PS. Here is the D2D link, if you're interested: http://www.direct2drive.com/6/9406/p...ilogy-Download

1. You can buy just the campaigns you need from the ingame store when you log in. I don't know about multipacks. You might also still need to get Eye of the North if it isn't included.

2. What are you and the other person planning on playing now?

3. Dunno.

The expansions on the in-game store are $30 each, that's why I wanted to get the trilogy, since it's $20.

We haven't got any plans for future characters, at the moment. I only have a lvl20 Necromancer, and he only has a lvl20 Elementalist.

You can add the Trilogy key to your existing account and it will upgrade your Prophecies to Game of the Year edition and give you access to Factions and Nightfall. It will not alter or delete your characters. You will still need to purchase Eye of the North expansion to have the complete game.

There is no perfect combination. You each should try out professions until you find the ones you like to play. Then work out builds that synergize so that you support each other. By that I mean that you each bring skills that cover the deficiencies in the other person's build. For detailed information on the professions, check out the stickied basics threads in the Campfire section's sub forums.

1) Dunno, answered by others

2) The 5 core characters are all pretty strong (minus the mesmer.) Personally, I'd recommend a necro/warrior combo. The warrior can do the engaging, taking the initial volley of spells and damage, and the necro can cast stuff like Weaken Armor, Barbs, and Mark of Pain to increase the warr's damage (Also, defile flesh <3, to gimp enemy healing). Although really, any two classes will work fine.

3) http://www.presearing.com/forum2/ind...?topic=26402.0

The list hasn't been updated in 6 months, but it's the best pre/post mini comparison you'll find. Seems like in the case of the djinn seems like the price is about the same.

add the 2 new ones to your existing account and then sell the extra prophecies or have a 2nd account for storage... maybe presearing stuff.

that djinn is worth more in presearing im pretty sure. not worth much in post. run an auction or find a reputable trader.

Not possible unless the campaigns are purchased separately. A multipack, such as the Trilogy or the Platinum Edition, gives you a single key that activates all the content in the box. Darcy gave the correct response.

1. Not sure.
2. Warrior, tanks are very helpful when around casters.
3. I would have to say Pre.

Here is a link to the post-searing mini pricing. Just ask around in pre-searing to find out the current price there. The prices in pre do not drop as fast as in post as the supply is much, much less than the demand.

Yes, you can add them to your existing account. There may be no actual "download" by the way - you could just get the appropriate key to add to your account. At any rate, your current account would have the most up-to-date content, so just adding the key would be simplest.

This depends a bit on what you intend to do, but, once you go to Nightfall and can get some heroes, you would most likely "duo" as 2 humans plus 6 Heroes. In any case, the Duo can be just about any classes you feel like playing since the Heroes and/or Henchmen (to a lesser extent) can be configured to fulfill any roles needed to complete the group.
One class you might consider as part of your duo would be Ritualist for the many powerful and useful build types available - Spirit Spammer, Resto Healer, etc.
If your duo is to be limited to just Prophecies or Factions (to start), where there are no heroes, Monk would be a good class for one of you - a monk can also act as a damage dealer (Smiting) or a healer/protector, and various things in between.

You would get a much bigger buyer base in post-searing, but another way would be to sell it through the Buy/Sell forums here on Guru, or through Guru auctions.
